Since Donald Trump formally announced his candidacy for President of the United States on June 16, 2015, America has been the centre of a growing culture war which challenges the social and traditional values upon which the nation was established, and embodied within the Constitution of The United States. During this past week I exchanged a prediction for the future with a member of the family. I will be 81 years old on September 16. He will be 20 years old the following day.
Our differences are as vast as the years that separate us. However, the world now belongs to his generation, and those that follow. My generation has had the benefit of experience. His generation will be given the gift of time, and the last word.
"We are living at a time when the average family is going broke. Our nation's labor participation rate is the lowest in history, and inflation is out of control because our government is floating the dollar all over the world. America's borders are being overrun by an uneducated alien population engaged in vicious drug and human trafficking, while our government is redefining deviant sex practices as the norm. Many of our major cities are no longer safe as courts around the country continue to release violent criminals back into our communities. People are afraid to speak freely and men, particularly white men, are persona non grata unless they claim to be an alternative gender, participate in women's sports or shower in their locker rooms. Just recently Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, refused to acknowledge the United States Supreme Court as the judicial authority of our nation. I should also mention that discrimination against people of Asian descent has never been more purposeful and violent than it is today. These are just a few of the things which, if encouraged to continue, will lead to the end of the last constitutional republic on Earth. And, it could happen before you graduate from college. What do you think you will be telling yourself, then?" bp
"Well, judging by the fact that the human population hasn't gone extinct yet (quite the opposite in fact), I believe the future will end up just like what we thought the future would end up. 10, 20, 50 years ago. Human innovation today has become unprecedented. Electric cars are becoming vastly widespread, cellular and wireless devices are practically necessary for survival amongst my generation (and older ones too). Not to forget the monumental rise and dispersal of AI technology. As long as the human race keeps advancing and making discoveries, and is still strong in numbers, we shouldn't be concerned. Social, political, and economic issues are bound to occur, regardless of any measures utilized to mitigate these problems. That is the epitome of human nature. So although there are a lot of problems with our world, specifically the ones you mentioned, I believe there is a lot of hope and Hope for the future." hg-a
